The Ortus Group are delighted to announce it has chosen Children’s Heartbeat Trust as its first annual Charity of the Year

The Ortus Group has announced it has partnered with Children’s Heartbeat Trust in 2016/17 to raise vital funds for the charity.

Ortus run a number of charity and community events throughout the year for different charities but this year has decided to focus on an annual cause within the community. The company is planning on organising a range of internal and external events to support the annual contribution as well as partaking in Children’s Heartbeat Trust campaigns.

In 2015, Ortus’ 8th Annual Charity Golf Day took place for Children’s Heartbeat Trust raising £7,000 for the charity. The funds were used to

  • Provide 83 confidential family counselling sessions. This is available to all heart families through Carecall and has been highly beneficial.
  • Furnish two brand new respite caravans in Newcastle and Ballycastle so that heart families can get a break from the stresses of daily living with heart disease and the hospital environment.  57 families will enjoy staying in them this year.

“The support from Ortus has been hugely beneficial to date and we are delighted to have been named as the first annual charity partner with the company.

The funds allowed us to continue providing our support services to the many children and young people in Northern Ireland living with heart disease.  As well as raising money, Ortus have also helped us to raise awareness of heart disease in children and our work in local communities across Northern Ireland.  We look forward to working with them and developing our services with their support.”

The assistance Stephanie at the West Belfast Social Enterprise Hub gave us was invaluable. Her vast experience in the social enterprise sector allowed us to easily work through the set-up of this new enterprise.”

Following this event, and seeing the impact the funds have had on so many Northern Irish Families Ortus CEO, Seamus O’Prey, is pleased to partner with the charity:

“As a social enterprise, Ortus are focussed on regeneration of the local area, providing mentoring and training to businesses at any stage of their cycle and supporting those within our community. Therefore, raising funds for other charities and community groups and giving back is central to our social ethos.

After the impact our support in 2015 had upon Children’s Heartbeat Trust we are delighted to name them as our first Annual Charity, supporting their work through a number of different events throughout the year.”
